London; History at its source

So our London trip turned out to be just in the nick of time. Within two weeks of returning everything just hopped in the handbasket and has been cruising straight for hell. But this isn’t about that, this is about a week of enjoying London. So hop in this better handbasket this is a long one! Day 1 We managed to arrive early at the airport, I wasn’t going to risk being late and possibly missing our flight. More so as we found there wasn’t a check-in counter…it was a kiosk. Tucked out of the way none the less, but I can’t say British Air has a major presence in DIA. From there we cleared security and settled in to wait at our gate with a few overpriced sandwiches. The British Library and The British Museum- A treasure trove of Medieval wonders

Every once in a great while you stumble across a great resource, in this case, I found two of the best. The first thing I found was that near every recipe calls for what is called Garum a fermented fish sauce. It was likened to nuoc mam, a Vietnamese sauce. The second thing I noted was most things are kept simple, each recipe had a very short list of ingredients. Deciding to keep it simple I settle on

An Adventure in Art

Kerocaro/ May 19, 2018/ Historical, Research/ 0 comments

So this past weekend landed me on an accidental adventure. Well looking about for things to do in the Windy City I came upon The Art Institute of Chicago’s exhibit The Medieval World at Our Fingertips: Manuscript Illuminations from the Collection of Sandra Hindman and The Deering Family Galleries of Medieval and Renaissance Art, Arms, and Armor. Well, that right there settled some of the plans for the weekend and after a short walk from our hotel, I was on my way to getting lost in one of the largest art museums I have ever had the privilege of attending.   First off I must say there was far more than I could realistically photograph** and post, the collections are amazing and I am sure I missed things. So with that in mind, I am
