All the Tiny Horses

This scroll is for the Kingdom, A silver stirrup, awarded for skill in the equestrian arts.

Unlike the last one I completed for my sister, this one I decided to go tiny. I had found a lovely series of illuminations depicting equestrian activities and was able to select one that I only needed light editing to make work. I removed people from the background and added the award badge in the tree over the original shield that was there.

Once again, I traced over the calligraphy using a micron before diving into the illumination.

You can see below how small I was working. The overall size is 5×7, once again on perg.

The detail I love the most on this is that the recipient’s arms are displayed on the jousting shield.

Overall, it was a very fun little scroll. Once again, I missed seeing it go out, but was able to talk with the recipient later and was able to point out the little shield with their arms for them.
