When in doubt, add more gold.
My scribe rule #4. And to be fair it works, it is hard to not like sparkle.
This scroll was a request from a northern barony event that just happened to be the day after our barony’s investiture.
I need to state that I can not wrap knotwork for anything. My brain starts following and then devolves into spaghetti. I did decide that I could probably trace this one, and the “T” was just begging to be used.
After many brain mush moments, I turned out the line work and got started painting. Enter rule 4. I used probably 3 different shades of gold to help create dimension. The pops of color also kept the visual interest.
I ended up very happy with this piece. It just worked, and while I don’t think I will do more knots in the near future, it was good to challenge myself.
I always start with the calligraphy. If I am going to make a mistake, I would rather not waste painting time. You can see the eventual design penciled in.
Next up is the line work. At this point, I am working on the details. I can correct small things in paint, but now is the time for making sure I have all the things.
Almost done here. I have the T left.
Final product. Ready to go out and be signed and given!
