Battlemoor Prep Part 2 Food

Kerocaro/ July 21, 2019/ Events, Food & Drink, Plans/ 0 comments

So last year I was on my own for food but this year with the Canton getting its feet back under itself it was decided that hey! let’s do a meal plan! So I being opportunistic to feed people took 1 lunch and 2 Dinner shifts. I now have to feed 11 (Probably more let’s face it feeding people is a thing). We have some allergies and sensitivities to deal with along with a toddler. Said toddler has been eating me out of house and home this week so we will see how game he is for eating not Dino Nuggets. I told his Aunt if he was to much of a pest we would send him a Viking to their kitchen. I was told any boffer axes and sugar

Battlemoor Prep-Food Part 1

Kerocaro/ July 5, 2019/ Food & Drink, Project/ 0 comments

One of the things I realized I needed to work on was food. More so when I said why yes I will cook 2 nights and a lunch for our meal plan. Last year I panned and packed a cooler-less meal plan. Something I get strange looks for. But I do hate watching ice and making sure the cold stays cold. For those interested, I took a photo of my food all prepped. From left to right, pre-made Coffee, extra tuna packet and back up mac and cheese(No clue how I planned to make it but I had it) Loaf of bread and beef jerky. The Tupperware has crackers, PB and applesauce. Then Gnocchi, behind that was shelled pumpkin seeds and Ginger. Under the Tuna and Gnocchi are containers of

Battlemoor Prep Part 1-Banners

Kerocaro/ July 2, 2019/ Plans, Project/ 0 comments

With the Byers event over it is time to move on to Battlemoor prep. So looking over the list I had started back at the first of the year it boiled down to Tent Bedding Clothing Banners With the tent taken care of, bedding sorted and clothing being ignored as I am now clothing 2 additional people that left me with Banners. With silk banners being more work then I wanted to put forward until my device is ready I settled for a canvas banner with our Canton’s populace badge. I had started it back in May with the hope I could take it to Byers but after an afternoon of painting the border and the weekends escaping me I set it aside until last night. I ended up free

AKA the event out in Byers that no one can ever pronounce, but it is really fun and I highly recommend it! It is hard to believe it has been a year since this event and I can honestly say I have grown a lot and felt much better about this year’s event! This was also the first and last time I will be camping with my sister, we had good plans and good intentions however we learned fast we don’t make good tent mates and for the sake of not doing each other in we will be splitting up for Battlemoor. That aside she did get us set up on her Don’s House’s meal plan, and I can say they saved many lives by having coffee ready every morning!

Update on the Tent

Kerocaro/ March 15, 2019/ Plans, Tent/ 0 comments

So we had settled on the Wall Tent and got it ordered back at the start of the year. We had opted for a 2 door tent, as getting a nice cross breeze can make a difference. Or bailing out the back as a bear eats your sibling…I mean. Yeah. Breeze. We had been a little antsy as we have an event at the end of May that we want to be ready for. Lucky they sent us the pole directions so we could look them over. The overall needs are very light, and the biggest thing that stopped us was “your tent may have slight variations on the size due to being hand made”. No big deal we could wait. I don’t think either of us wanted to mess

Battlemoor- A lighting Solution.

Kerocaro/ July 14, 2018/ Plans/ 0 comments

So, on my Battlemoor prep, one of the things I had down for things that worked was these nice little battery candle tea lights. And well they did me well, I figured why not round them up in a lantern?   This lantern from Ikea has been used in several upcycles for SCA lighting. Being lucky enough to have an IKEA in town I made a note to snag one on our next visit.   Now one of the issues I found straight off the bat was that when one’s toddler manages to pull the handle off with ease there is a good chance it wasn’t going to last to start with. But not wanting to give up I asked my husband to rebend them back in so that it would stay together.

Condottieri-A taste of camping in the SCA

Kerocaro/ June 3, 2018/ Events, Plans/ 0 comments

So a few populace meetings back we had tossed around a lunch tavern idea and few phone calls later we had been granted space at Condottieri. I at the time had said yes I would be willing to help and then promptly spaced it. Upon being reminded I panicked and then proceeded to get ready for a camping event. The matter of a place to sleep was resolved by fellow canton member (and the one in charge of the tavern.) The rest was up to me. As far as the event itself, it was lovely! The location reminded me strongly of the Cattle Raids site in Calontir. Lucky for me the cottonwood didn’t start running until we got home, so well I needed allergy medication I wasn’t miserable. I spent a
